The best competition I have is against myself to become better -John Wooden
Where’s your focus? Wake up every day and remind yourself to serve others. Strive to help other people without expecting anything in return. Are you setting your sights on what you want and how you can help others achieve what they want?
I’ve spent way too much time in my life comparing myself to others and feeling like I wasn’t as far as I should be in life. And you know what happens when you have that mindset? You keep getting exactly what you’ve got! So once I shifted and realized that it was up to me and only me…my life changed. I surrounded myself with people who have achieved what I wanted to achieve and I work harder on myself than anything else! I’ve still got a long way to go but I now focus on what I want… not what I don’t want. Are you helping other people reach their goals? Once you shift your mindset and lead with an open heart, your life will change!
Don’t fall in the comparison trap:
Keep Your Eyes On Your Own Mat:
Have you ever been in a yoga class and you shift your eyes while you’re trying to do a pose? Or you look over to see what someone else is doing and you almost fall over? Keep your eyes on your own mat. Stop looking around at everyone else and keep your eyes on your own mat. Everyone else is working hard to get things done. You should be doing the same. Resist the urge to compare yourself to others.
Do Things That Move Your Life Forward:
Become aware of when you’re wasting time. You know what I mean…scrolling Facebook, clicking links all over the internet, watching YouTube videos one after the other (I think I just tattled on myself). Know when you’re escaping from what you need to get done. You have your goals so start chasing them. Be aware of your actions when you’re putting on the brakes. Ask yourself, “Is this productive right now? Is this moving me toward my goals?”
Push Through The Mean Girl Voice Holding You Back:
You know what I’m talking about…that awful, rude, bitchy mean girl who lives between your ears. That loud voice telling you all the reasons you can’t succeed. Just shut her up and move on. She’ll never go away, (believe me, I know) but you can just ignore her. Become aware when that’s the voice you’re hearing. Instead, listen to the whisper that tells you what you want. And then take action to get there.
I hope this has some value for you. Please leave a comment or email me if I can help you in any way. I’m all about doing the things that will get you further in life. Ditch the mean girl voice and SHINE!
